The ITIL® 4 Digital and IT Strategy (DITS) provides the candidate with an understanding about the importance and challenges of creating an appropriate digital strategy to enable the success of businesses. It also focuses on how the digital strategy can (and should) be integrated with the IT strategy and aligned with the wider organisation’s goals.

The module explores the use of ITIL framework to support organisations in their digital transformation journey. It provides a structured and flexible approach for addressing service management challenges and utilizing the potential of modern technology to get the most value from digital technology. It also adds a new perspective to the ITIL suite and elevates the discussion around ITIL concepts to the very strategic level among companies and business leaders.

The module enables IT and digital leaders to influence and drive strategic business decisions, by helping them to:

  • Create an appropriate digital strategy aligned to the wider business goals
  • Understand how business and IT leaders across the globe are responding to digital disruption by reshaping corporate strategy, adapting processes and even repurposing entire business models
  • Explore the use of the ITIL 4 framework to support organisations on their digital transformation journey, addressing service management challenges and utilizing new technology.

Following the completion of the ITIL 4 DITS training participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the use of the ITIL guiding principles in Digital and IT Strategy decisions and activities
  • Understand how to leverage digital strategy to react to digital disruption
  • Understand the relationship between the concepts of Digital and IT Strategy, the service value system and the service value chain, and explain how to utilize them to create value
  • Understand how an organisation uses Digital and IT Strategy to remain viable in environments disrupted by digital technology
  • Understand strategic approaches made possible by digital and information technology to achieve customer/market relevance and operational excellence
  • Understand the risks and opportunities of Digital and IT Strategy
  • Understand the steps and techniques involved in defining and advocating for a Digital and IT Strategy
  • Understand how to implement a Digital and IT Strategy
  • Pass the ITIL 4 Digital and IT Strategy exam.
  • Individuals continuing their journey in Service Management
  • ITSM Managers and aspiring ITSM Managers
  • ITSM practitioners who are responsible for developing a cross-organisational digital strategy, strategically manage risk, drive organisational change, survive and thrive in a VUCA environment.
  • Existing ITIL qualification holders wishing to develop their knowledge.

There are two forms of assessment in this qualification; the practical case study assignments, and the MCQ (multiple choice question) exam.

Practical Case Study Assessment

  • Three assignments of 60 minutes, one assignment of 90 minutes in the group work format, or Four individual written assignments of 60 minutes each in individual format.
  • 40 marks – Number of assessment criteria: 5 Marks. Each assessment criterion is worth 8 marks.
  • 75% pass mark
  • Closed book

MCQ (multiple choice question) Exam

  • 60 Minutes (75 minutes for non-native speakers)
  • 30 questions
  • Multiple Choice
  • 70% pass mark
  • Closed book

Upon successful completion of the exam and following confirmation of the results, the participants will receive a unique, secure and auditable electronic certificate from PeopleCert.
The ITIL 4 Foundation certification is mandatory to access the further ITIL 4 modules which require candidates’ ability to apply the ITIL framework key concepts in a working environment

It is desirable, but not essential, that participants have some experience in IT Service management. Some pre-read material is provided prior to the training and is expected to be fully read before attending the course. A good knowledge of English is mandatory.

The candidate must have passed the ITIL 4 Foundation examination. In addition, the candidate must have attended an accredited training course for this module.

The Candidate must be able to demonstrate that he/she has a minimum of three year’s managerial experience.
